As per a research report from Reportlinker, Growing demand for electrical efficiency and increasing investment in modernisation of infrastructure will drive the global VFD (Variable Frequency Drives)/VSD (Variable Speed Drives)/ASD (Adjustable Speed Drives)/inverters market to $18,854 million by 2017, with a CAGR of 8.7% from 2012 to 2017.

Four  prominent advantages of using VFDs:

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) can make a big change in energy cost of the machinery that do not need to run at a particular speed throughout its operation
  • With suitable sensors and electronics, VFDs may be used for process control like temperature, pressure or flow
  • It eliminates the need for soft starter for a motor
  • It helps in torque control of the driven equipment.
